Biography
Ricardo Torres is a businessman and a very enthusiastic soccer coach who attained the Scouting certificate and Athlete Management certificate with SMWW. Coach Torres started his soccer coach carrier in 2008 coaching young players with a local competitive club in Athens TN. He started working with the U8 boys’ team. After one season, he moved to Williamson County, in Mid Tennessee. He helped the Williamson County Soccer Association imparting the 2009 Summer camps. In that same year, he attended and obtained the state D License in the state of TN. The following year, coach Torres attended and successfully obtained the National “Y” coaching license held in franklin TN. He is a United States Soccer Federation certified coach. in 2011 coach Torres moved back to Sweetwater Tn. and started to help as a volunteer coach with the 1277 AYSO region. He helped with the U12 and U14 boys’ teams. From 2012 to 2014 he volunteered as a coach for the SJHS boys’ soccer team. In 2015 the SQHS, from Madisonville TN, Hired him as the boys’ head soccer coach. He started developing the entire soccer program, from recruiting players, planning practice sessions and games, to making sure the team’s records were up to date. During that year, coach Torres completed the Interscholastic course from the NHSF. In 2016 Coach Torres started the Assistant Coach position for the Men and the Women soccer teams at Hiwassee College. For four years and after Hiwassee college closed, coach Torres helped Sweetwater High School one year as an Assistant coach. in 2018 Ricardo Torres got the National D Soccer License. After that year, in 2019, He took the head coach position taking his team to the Tennessee State Tournament for the first time ever in SHS history. Now Coach Torres is coaching his daughter, Sweetwater Jr High School, soccer team. Working with different age groups and various levels of soccer, Ricardo Torres has learned the skill of identifying talented players. Besides coaching soccer, Ricardo Torres and his wife own a couple of small businesses in Sweetwater Tn. a restaurant and indoor soccer field where he offers individual and group training sessions for kids and adults. Ricardo Torres's goal is to help players sign a professional contract so they can help their families while doing what they love to do, play soccer.
